Non-NHS Work

Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following:

  • Medicals for pre-employment, sports and driving requirements (HGV, PSV etc.)
  • Insurance claim forms
  • Fit to travel certificates
  • Private sick notes
  • Vaccination certificates
  • The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.

Travel Vaccinations

We are currently not providing travel vaccinations. Patients should attend an outside travel clinic or pharmacy or, depending on the medication required, could ask the doctor for a private prescription.

There are many useful community services available to our patients.

Minor Operations

We specialise in minor operations and have a theatre. Services include excision of lumps and bumps, vasectomy, and circumcision. NHS or private work is taken. Please contact reception for further information.

Baby Health Clinics

The doctors carry out 6-8 week baby checks.

Immunisations are carried out by the practice nurse at 8 weeks.

Parents are advised to book appointments at the required stages.

Contraceptive Services

Advice on contraception is given by all clinicians.

Long acting contraceptive services i.e. coil fitting/removal and implants are now carried out at the Greenwich Live Well Hubs in various locations across the Greenwich Borough, but are booked via the practice. Please speak to reception staff to book.

  • Emergency contraception is offered to patients who contact the surgery within 72 hours of sexual intercourse.

Antenatal Clinic

Antenatal clinics are held by midwives at The Plumstead Health Centre. We follow local Hospital Protocols for Maternity Care. Antenatal booking is now done by self referral to the midwife, please ask at reception for details.

Patients are generally referred to The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich SE18. Postnatal checks (6 weeks after birth) are undertaken by the doctor.

Pre-conceptual advice to those planning a family, particularly to patients with pre-existing medical conditions, is offered by the doctor. Doctors also advise on diet, alcohol and substance misuse, supplements and genetic disorders etc.

Nurse Services

We have two part-time qualified nurses who hold surgeries to advise on most ailments. They also run regular chronic disease management sessions such as diabetes, heart disease and asthma, COPD etc.

We recommend regular health checks. 

You can make an appointment with our nurses for the following:

  • Cervical smears
  • Child and adult immunisations
  • Health promotion e.g. weight reduction
  • Asthma clinic
  • Diabetes clinic
  • Heart disease/stroke prevention
  • Blood pressure checks
  • Sexual health advice
  • Health checks for the over 75’s

Contraception & Smoking Cessation

Although our nurses are trained in contraceptive advice and smoking cessation, this is now done in specialist Hubs which are booked though the surgery. There is a variety of locations for these services in the Greenwich Borough – please send us a message for details of one close to you.
